PROCEDURE OF AUDIO LINGUAL METHOD
In
Afrin (2007: 18) As it was mentioned
above, drills and
pattern practice are
typical of the
Audio-lingual method. These
include the main things such as:
1. Repetition: where the student repeats an utterance as soon as he hears it, without looking at printing materials. After a student has repeated an utterance, he may repeat it again and add a few words, then repeat that whole utterance and add more words.
2. Inflection: Where one word in a sentence appears in another form when repeated
3. Replacement: Where one word is replaced by another word
In
other hand Sylva (2009: 19) and here is a typical procedure in an audio-lingual
course:
1. Students hear a model dialogue.
2. Students repeat each line of the dialogue.
3. Certain key words or phrases may be changed in the dialogue.
4. Key structures from the dialogue serve as the basis for pattern drills of different kinds.
5. The students practice substitutions in the pattern drills.
This
pattern may be very effective. The practice of dialogues and drills can lead to the
ability to produce
own sentences and
that is what the aim
of today’s foreign language teaching should be.
