Procedures of PQ4R Method
Ø PREVIEW - scan the material to get an idea of the main points
Ø QUESTION - ask yourself questions as you read in questions of who/what/when/where/how.
Ø READ - read the material carefully.
Ø REFLECT - think about what you have just read. Try to make it meaningful
Ø RECITE - practice what you have learned by repeating major points out loud
Ø REVIEW - go back over the material by asking yourself questions and trying to answer without reading the work again.

Procedures of Think Ahead and Write (TAW) Strategy
Ø Reading the title, subheadings, and first sentences of paragraphs of the selection. Then Ask questions, guess the answers, and write them down. There are no “right” or “wrong” predictions at this point.
Ø Develop pictures in mind about the selection, and write about these images or they may prefer to draw these mental images.
Ø Connecting between what already know about the topic and reading election. Write down these connections.
