INTRODUCTION
This chapter discusses background
of the researcher, statement of the research
problems, objectives of the research, significance of the research, scope and
limitation of the research, and definition of key terms.
A. Background of the Research
English is the language of
globalization, international communication, commerce and trade, the
media and pop culture, different motivations for learning it come
in to play. “English is no longer
viewed as the property of the English
speaking world but is an international commodity sometimes referred to as world
English or English as international
language” (Richards, 2002:3). So many countries
that use English as the first
language. Hewings (2007:10) states that “The use of
English has spread far for beyond those countries where it is used as
first language”. In some countries English
is an important second language for many
speakers, and has often become the language used in official contexts such as
courts, parliament and higher education. So, English is important language that
should be learned by every people around the world including?????????????
