A. Background
Language as a medium of
communication and it is an integral
part of human life. Therefore,
everyone must be able to use it in speaking. To master speaking skill is one of the difficulties in learning English.
Speaking is one way of finding information through oral communication in the word becomes more and more
useful. According to the curriculum, the teaching in Indonesia should emphasize
for skills, namely reading, writing, and speaking. To know English perfectly these four skills should be taught separately, however the students in general can read and write English better than speak it. According o Rasyid (1997: 14) stated that the teaching of English in Indonesia school
has become perceived and realized
need. The perception and realization of this need are based on the nation wide. Assumption that good mastery of the
language will instrumentally function not
only as the key to many doors to development.
Based on "SMP
Nasional Makassar" the student's
speaking ability is very low. The writer tries to use leading questions to enhance their speaking ability. The teaching of
speaking is not easy. We must be optimist
that if we try certainly we can, in the second and foreign
language teaching speaking is considered to be difficult
amount the four. Chasten in Amin (1991:1) point out the learning to speak is
obviously more difficult than learning to
understand to spoken language one who to speak to others sometimes face some trouble.
The speaking skill cannot
be ignored because all language are spoken before they are written. The written language is derived from the
spoken one. So, in the first stage
in learning languages learners should be concerned with the spoken language. Therefore, the writer is
interested in finding out the problem that
hamper the students ability in speaking????? ????
